rough notes

my fractured self.

with 2 comments

every four or five months (i.e. when i have time to ponder things), I completely take apart my internet identity and put it back together again. there are bits of me all over the blogosphere, many of which i’ve lost, but most of which i’ve managed to hold on to.

i like to think my Self as a conglomeration of lego bricks. every now again i can take my Self (Internet or otherwise) apart and try to put it back together again; sometimes it works, and other times there are gapping holes or pieces jutting out from where they simply should not jut out from. and like i mentioned, there are those missing pieces, which we lose in the process of the dissassembly but are absolutetly crucial to the reconstruction. with a little luck (and some pain) i’ll stumble upon these pieces in the future. i’ll walk onto that missing lego brick whilst surfing the net, and it will cause a lot of displeasure and hurt like nothing else, but at least it will be found.

speaking of stumbling upon things, i just recalled one of my spring-time ventures in Blogland. some of it is still archived on StumbleUpon, so you can go look for yourself. I had this great idea to actually write up my blog with a pen and paper, and then digitize the images. Frankly, it’s an awesome idea – an awesome idea i had ripped off the awesome actor, matthew gray gubler (his blog being the original makes it the awesomest, of course). i backed away from it, though, because i realized that the scanning would be a little time-consuming, and the bandwidth required to host and transfer these images would cost me a pretty little penny.

anyway, at least StumbleUpon has allowed me to see pictures of those lego bricks i lost last spring. those lego bricks, i deliberately obliterated with a swift, 3-finger Apple-Shift-Delete keystroke into a digital dustbin, so all i have left is an index i abandoned nearly the same time I began it..

(before you start: yes, i know the lego-brick thing is a half-assed metaphor. but right now, i’m too tired to care…)
