rough notes

An entry about work

The Governor-General and her retinue took out a couple rooms (almost an entire floor, I hear) at the hotel last weekend. This meant she ate in my restaurant.

Her Excellency, the G-G, ate granola and yogurt with strawberries for breakfast. Her consort, John Raulston Saul, had the “Lord Nelson Breakfast” – two eggs over easy, whole wheat toast, home fries, coffee, orange juice, and some bacon. He finished the breakfast off with two double-espressos.

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court also sat down to breakfast with them. She was in a rush (as her personal secretary told me), and ordered before everyone else. She had two eggs and an english muffin.

I would also like to note that JRS brought in his own papaya at the start of breakfast, and asked the waiter to bring it to the kitchen so it might be prepared for the meal. He stressed that it **had** to be cut into wedges. Not slices. Wedges. He also cradled the papaya like a baby.

Finally, I would like to state that if ever we as a nation choose to have our own Glorious Revolution, I’ll be all for installing Clarkson and Saul as our own William and Mary. Clarkson is the greatest G-G we’ve had in a long, long time, and the arrogance and pretense of Saul gives a great regal presence. I admire their collective pomposity.
